Chef Linda Johnsen of Filomena's Italian Kitchen in Costa Mesa and Filomena's Cafe & Wine Bar, located in the Laguna Design Center in Laguna Niguel grew up in South Philly in a traditional Italian American family where she spent Sunday’s with her Grandmother, Filomena, and Aunt Rosemary making a pot of Sunday Sauce and learning the secrets to making “homemades” or pasta. This is where the tradition and techniques of Italian cooking were passed down to Linda and what she now shares with her guests in both her restaurants.
The Italian Kitchen has been named one of the Orange County Register’s 2015 Best Top 10 Italian Restaurant's in the OC, and for a second year in a row, one of the 75 Best Places to Eat in the OC. It has also been included for the last two years in the Register’s Top 20 Best Pizzas in Orange County, and was ranked #9 for 2016. The Italian Kitchen was also ranked the #1 Restaurant in Costa Mesa by Trip Advisor. The Cafe & Wine Bar, opened in March 2015, is quickly on the rise as a locals go-to for Italian comfort food in Laguna Niguel.
Linda is big supporter of charities that feed and provide services to Orange County's homeless population. For the past two years she has had the honor to be the only female chef to participate in S.O.S.’s Annual Celebrity Chef Dinner held at the Huntington Beach Hyatt and has also served up her Italian creations at their Wild & Crazy Taco Nights in Costa Mesa. Linda also supports the Illumination Foundation and was a participating chef in the 2016 OC Chef's table gala dinner.
Andii Ulrich is a wine consultant & sommelier with experience in tasting wines from around the world. A life-long foodie and vino lover, Andii pursued her passions and quenched her thirst for the grape by studying wine at the Peter Neptune School of Wine located at LCA Wine in Costa Mesa, CA.
She currently holds advanced certification from the Wine & Spirits Education Trust (WSET) of London and holds the title of French Wine Scholar from the French Wine Society. She travels routinely to France, Italy and Spain for first hand (and sip) experience in challenging her palate with the wines she enjoys most. Her focus is on wines of quality & taste with emphasis in organic and biodynamic wine making practices.
Andii conducts personal and corporate tasting experiences & restaurant consultation services through her business, Girl in the Vines.
